Bath Shop Profile: Wool

Time to profile another stop on our Road Trip to the Bath Christmas Market and today we're talking about Wool

Rachel and I first stumbled upon Wool when we nipped into Bath with our friend Karen on our way to a knitting retreat last year. Stumbled is actually a slight exaggeration - I always check KnitMap when I'm going to new places! We needed a break to get out of the car and stretch our legs and the fact that there was a yarn store in the vicinity made for a win-win situation.

But oh what a win! We were delighted with Wool - from the charming cobblestone street we found it on just off the beaten path, to the warm and welcome light glowing from it's chandelier hanging in the middle of the shop, to the inviting couch where you can sit down comfortably to go through the many pattern books on offer - the shop is a little hidden treasure amongst the gems to be found in Bath's town centre.

The shop has been in Bath since 2010 and owner Laura has packed it full of as much yarn as she can! Wool features a huge selection - definitely something for everyone, and every budget. There are UK staples from Rowan, Louisa Harding, and Debbie Bliss, to Rooster, Fyberspates and Blacker yarns, as well as European faves like Bergère de France and Austermann. Araucania, Noro and Lopi can also be found on the shelves, and we even saw some yarn from Juniper Moon Farm when we popped in a few weeks ago!

If haberdashery is more your thing then rest assured, there are plenty of needles and notions to be had from Knit Pro, Addi, Clover and Pony. There's also a terrific button selection and of course, plenty of inspiration from the many books and patterns.

We're thrilled that Laura will be hosting a private Christmas party for our road trip participants starting at 5:30pm on Saturday after the shop closes. There will be mulled wine (and of course something non-alcoholic too!) and mini Christmas cupcakes with brandy butter icing. Oh yes! This is happening! And should your browsing turn to buying in the shop, Laura has goody bags worth £15 when you spend £75 or more.

Wool is our last stop on our first ever road trip. After the party and our shopping we'll have a short walk back to the coach to head home after a merry and festive day. Won't you join us? Tickets are still available, and we now have an option for you to join us if you're outside of London. Click here for tickets.
