We absolutely love working on the Great London Yarn Crawl every year! One of our biggest challenges though, has been finding the right venue for our famous after party. It may be hard to believe but it isn't always easy to find a space for 150 yarn lovers in central London!
Happily, this year we have the added support of our after-party sponsor Garthenor to make things a bit easier and we're thrilled to bits to have them on board!
Garthenor's mission is all about sourcing and providing bespoke, organic, British wools. They're passionate about British organic farming and the British textile industry. They buy all their fleeces from around the UK - directly from the farmers - which means they can trace the wool from fleece to jumper. And that's something that we can all care about as makers.
With yarn weights from lace to chunky and from a variety of breeds such as Shetland, Ryeland, Manx Loaghtan, Hebridean, Jacob and more, Garthenor have something for everyone.
At this year's Great London Yarn Crawl After Party and Mini Yarn Market, Garthenor will be featuring their Shetland Laceweight, used in the new Amory pattern by Isabell Kraemer. This yarn yields 621m in 100g and most sizes of the sweater can be knit in just two skeins! We love the simple, boat-neck neckline and delicate lace edging on the hem of the garment. Best of all, this sweater will be lightweight but deliciously warm at the same time!
A huge thank you to Jonny and Sally and the whole Garthenor team for sponsoring this year's GLYC After Party!
