Loop has been part of the Great London Yarn Crawl since the very first edition back in 2013, and is a perennial favourite.
Located in picturesque Camden Passage a short walk away from Angel in Islington, stepping in to Loop is a bit like entering a yarn-filled sweet shop. Shelves filled with gorgeous colours from around the world tempt even the most determined cold sheepers to break their yarn diets with just one special skein.
Loop’s signature product is hand dyed yarns from a long list of independent dyers. Currently they have yarns from DyeForYarn, Dandelion Yarns, La Bien Aimée, Life in the Long Grass, Madelinetosh, Old Maiden Aunt, Plucky Knitter, Qing Fibre, Snail Yarn, The Little Grey Sheep, Triskelion, Uncommon Thread, and Viola to start.
But if you think Loop is only a great place to get yarn, you’d be very wrong. The ground floor of the shop also includes amazing and unexpected haberdashery items, from Addi, Lykke and Chiao Goo needles to embroidery supplies, to buttons and toggles, gorgeous scissors and other goodies sourced from around the world. On the first floor, yarn shares space with a wide range of books and patterns, including Amirisu magazine, a wide range of stitch dictionaries and Loop’s own books.
Last, but certainly not least, are Loop’s classes, which range from beginner classes to specialised techniques (brioche for example), and from knitting and crochet to embroidery and toy making with Julie Arkell.
Yarn crawlers will be entitled to 10% off their purchases when they show their passports, and there will be lovely refreshments on hand in the shop throughout the week. Be sure to stop in to Loop on your Yarn Crawl this year - you won’t be disappointed!
