GLYC 2019 Shop Profile: The Village Haberdashery

One of the things we’ve always loved about the shops participating in the Great London Yarn Crawl is the variety that they offer! For multi-craftual yarn crawlers, The Village Haberdashery, located in West Hampstead is a must-see with their wide variety of yarns, fabric, notions and other crafts like paper, embroidery, cross stitch and more.

For yarn lovers there’s something to suit every budget from Adriafil, Rico, and Stitch & Story to Erika Knight, Baa Ram Ewe, Mrs Moon, and The Fibre Co. Annie has also brought in Blue Sky Fibers, SweetGeorgia and Madelinetosh and then rounded things out with local UK dyers like The Wool Barn, Knit the Bed, and Riverknits.

A knitting workshop with Qing Fibre on 1st September will have you trying new techniques on this special scarf project.

As part of the GLYC, local London dye studio Qing Fibre will be hosting a special knitting workshop on Sunday, 1st September and sharing the techniques to make a beautiful tasseled scarf with marling and colourwork. Spaces are limited to six and you can book onto this workshop with a minimum £25 donation to Refuge.

If you’re also a sewist then you’ll love browsing the giant wall of fabric filled with the likes of Cotton & Steel, Dashwood Studio, Riley Blake, Sevenberry, among others! There’s also a huge selection of patterns and books with inspiration for quilts, clothes, and stuff for all members of the family too.

There’s supplies for loads of other crafts at The Village Haberdashery too!

Yarn crawlers will be treated to 10% off at The Village Haberdashery during the week-long GLYC - and they’re also making their own donation of 10% to Refuge too! Make sure you show your passport and don’t miss this stop!

LCG UPDATE: The Village Haberdashery

It's been over a year since the release of our first book, the London Craft Guide. One of the things we were always wary of with doing a print version is how things can change with shops over the course of time. Sadly, sometimes a shop can choose to close or go online only - as was the case with tiny Kensington shop Patricia Roberts. And other times the changes are happy ones, such as expanding into a bigger space!

This was the case with West Hampstead shop The Village Haberdashery earlier this year and we couldn't be more thrilled to make the the focus of our first official London Craft Guide update!

Workshops, events and other fun stuff:
With their expanded space, Annie and the team at The Village Haberdashery have been busy planning even more workshops and events (including classes with Great British Sewing Bee 2016 winner Charlotte Newland!), in addition to their new Knit Night & Sew In on Thursday evenings from 6-9pm.

We're really excited about the inviting community square right in front of TVH's new premises - so much so that we're teaming up with Annie to co-host a World Wide Knit In Public Day event on Saturday, June 10th from 11am-2pm. This is a FREE event so why not make a plan to come and see the new space and hang out with other yarn lovers? And of course, TVH will be back as part of this year's Great London Yarn Crawl too.
